Our Manokalanipō Kauaʻi Council has arranged for a number amazing huaka'i (field experiences) for our members. Descriptions are below and additional details can be found on the registration form.

HUAKAʻI #1

Name of Huakaʻi: Wailuanuiahoano (Sacred is the great Wailua)

Host of Huakaʻi: ʻAhahui Kīwila Hawaiʻi O Moʻikeha

Alakaʻi: Kumu Kaee Ah Loo is a Kauai School Teacher for over 30 years, she specializes in Kauaʻi/Hawaiʻi, History and ʻŌlelo Hawaii. A kamaʻaina to Kauaʻi, Kumu Kaee traces her moʻokūʻauhau to Mōʻīkeha, the name sake of this civic club and aliʻi nui of this well-known district.

Description: A field visit to some of the historical sites of Wailua, Kauai - #1 Poliahu, #2 Holoholoku, #3 Malaehaakoa , #4 Hikinaakala, #5 Hauola, #6 Kukui

Cost: $30/per person

# of participants: up to 30 people

Pickup: Marriott @ 8:30 am

Dropoff: Marriott @ 1:30pm

Lunch/Drinks: Yes, lunch and drinks will be provided at Lydgate Park.

Additional info: We will be walking in the hot sun to look at historical sites. Participants will need an umbrella or hat, walking shoes, and a water bottle. HUAKAʻI #2

Name of Huakaʻi: Kauaʻi Museum Tour

Host of Huakaʻi: ʻAhahui Kīwila Hawaiʻi O Moʻikeha

Description: Chucky Boy Chock the Executive Director will give a 15 minute talk on the King Kaumualiʻi - Haʻakulou Exhibit. Everyone will then be able to tour the rest of the museum at their leisure for the remainder of the hour.

Cost: $20/per person

# of participants: up to 30 people per tour

Lunch/Drinks n/a

Additional info: 9am – 10am, 10am – 11am, 11am – 12pm- 3 choices


HUAKAʻI #3A

Name of Huakaʻi: Prince Kūhiō Park

Host of Huakaʻi: Queen Deborah Kapule HCC

Description: A visit to the birthplace of Prince Kūhiō currently known as Prince Kūhiō Park and moʻolelo will be shared by the caretakers of this wahi pana, the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Chapter 3 Kaumualiʻi.

Cost: $30/per person

# of participants: up to 36 people

Pickup: Marriott @ 8:30 am

Dropoff: Marriott @ 2:30pm

Lunch/Drinks Yes.

Name of Huakaʻi: Prince Kūhiō Park

Host of Huakaʻi: Queen Deborah Kapule HCC

Description: A visit to the birthplace of Prince Kūhiō currently known as Prince Kūhiō Park and moʻolelo will be shared by the caretakers of this wahi pana, the Royal Order of Kamehameha, Chapter 3 Kaumualiʻi.

HUAKAʻI #4

Name of Huakaʻi: Ka ʻOno o ka Moku o Kona (The delicacies of the Kona district)

Host of Huakaʻi: Kaumualiʻi HCC

Description: Holoholo with kamaʻāina of the Kona moku to witness the beauty of our moku as we share all kinds of ʻono through mele, moʻolelo, visit to wahi pana like Pāʻulaʻula, and actually taste taro chips of Hanapēpē, chocolate ʻopihi from Kauaʻi Chocolate, manju from Kauaʻi Kookie, and a variety of Kauaʻi coffee blends. Bring some extra kālā just in case you want to buy some makana only found on Kauaʻi for your ʻohana back home.

Cost: $50/per person

# of participants: up to 36 people

Pickup: Marriott @ 8:30 am

Dropoff: Marriott @ 3:00pm
