Queen Deborah Kapule Hawaiian Civic Club 2015

Club Activities included:

  • March participated in the annual Prince Kuhio Commemorative Service at his birthplace Ho`ea (Koloa).
  • April hosted a huaka`i to Makauwahi Caves in Mahaulepu under OHA’s I Mana Ka Lahui cultural series.
  • June entered both a decorated vehicle and a walking unit in the King Kamehameha Day Parade in Lihue.
  • July testified in opposition to County Resolution 2015-51 - “Resolution Requesting the State of Hawaii to Rename Kapule Highway as the Kaua`I Veterans Memorial Kapule Highway”. This issue in on-going.
  • August organized and hosted Ali`i Sunday honoring Queen Deborah Kapule at Kapa`a First Hawaiian Church. Participants included: Royal Order of Kamehameha I Chapter 3-Kaumauli`i, Na Wahine Hui O Kamehameha, Ahahui O Ka`ahumanu – Chapter 6, Hale O Na Ali`i O Hawai`i – Halau O Kapi`olani, Daughters of Hawai`i, Kaumuali`i Hawaiian Civic Club, Ahahui Kiwila Hawai`i O Mo`ikeha, Dept of Hawaiian Home Lands Kaua`i Commissioner, Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate, Queen Liliu`okalani Children’s Center and Kaua`i Mayor.
  • September partnered to host the Kaua`i screenings of “Pa`a Ke Aupuni – The Reel History of Hawai`i”—OHA’s animated film in Kapa`a and Lihu`e.
