Ke Ali'i William Charles Lunalilo Hawaiian Civic Club 2013
by Lavalliere Kehaulani Leslie Clumb

It has been quite a challenge for the first year. However, at the same time, we have accomplished a lot more than what we anticipated. First, all of the legal process is complete. The Club has obtained its 501© (3) Status. We established a social committee for our members, and for our kupuna. A ukulele class has been formed to meet every Saturday. Our teacher is Ed Hauanio who is also a member of the Club. A dialogue has begun and is on-going to develop a two-year strategic plan to encompass educational, creative and entertaining programs and activities that will raise funds for our Scholarship Program and to build our Membership Program.

We are members of the Nationalities Counsel of Indiana in hopes of drawing attention to the community that our Club does exit and what our Purpose and Objectives are. In addition, I sent out a press release to a long list of media people to introduce our Hawaiian Civic Club to Indiana. I was invited for an interview to WISH T.V., Indy Style Morning Show on July 15, 2013 to provide information about our club and what we hope to accomplish for our Hawaiian people, our Polynesian counterparts and others who have a strong love and respect for our culture.

“Our Dream Continues…”
