Kalihi-Palama Hawaiian Civic Club 2013

The members of the Kalihi Palama HCC send their aloha and best wishes to the Kauai Council. Mahalo for all of your work in hosting this year’s convention. Club activities included participating in the Prince Kuhio Commemorative parade in March with honorees, Ladd Heleloa and the Kalihi Palama HCC Halau Hula, and participating in the King Kamehameha Floral parade, honoring noted Hawaiian quilters John Serrao and Cissy Serrao. Club members also participated in the Prince Kuhio Ho‘olaule‘a/Ho‘ike‘ike, the Kamehameha Ho‘olaule‘a and ‘Onipa‘a. Especially noteworthy were the cultural demonstrations conducted by Dexter Soares, Ipu; Cissy Serrao, Hawaiian Quilting; Betty Lau, La‘au Lapa‘au; Joe Doughty, Lomi Lomi; Ladd Heleloa, Ti-Leaf Arts; George Kaiwi, Aumakua; and Pikake Enos, Hawaiian Jewelry. Members, Kaiona Kaleikini-Killebrew, Mel Cup Choy, and Jaedine Ehia represented our club in the cleanup of Mauna‘ala. Member Ladd Heleloa received the Helen C. Kane Award for his initiative to establish a club halau hula in the Kamehameha Community Center. Member Pamai Tenn continues to seek signatures on the Prince Kuhio postal stamp petition. Ho‘ikaika Like Me Ke Aloha!
